Uncle Sams

Uncle Sams is tucked away in Bombay Wali Gali, which is right in the Rori Bazar area of Sirsa. It’s a narrow lane, like most of the streets in that part of town, so it’s always a bit of a squeeze when people are coming and going. We’ve been in this spot for quite some time, and we’ve seen Sirsa change around us. Rori Bazar is the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else’s business, and we are right in the middle of it. Our shop isn't very large, but we make the most of the space we have. There’s a certain way the light comes into the alley in the afternoon, and that’s usually when things start to get busy. We don't have a big marketing plan or any of that. We just rely on the fact that we’ve been here long enough for people to know where to find us. Sometimes the street gets flooded during the rains, or the traffic makes it impossible to move, but that’s just life in a bazaar. We keep our shelves stocked and the counter clear. The name Uncle Sams comes from a family nickname that we decided to put on the sign years ago. It’s a simple operation, run by people who grew up right here in Haryana. We just do our work and talk to the customers who stop by. Most days we are just happy to have the regulars pop in for a chat while they do their shopping.
