Kathura is a quiet village, and that is where you will find us. We are in the Katni district, out in the Tehsil area. It’s a lot of open space and fresh air, which we really like. The work we do is tied to the ground, quite literally. We spend all day with the red earth and the water, and it is messy work most of the time. Our clothes are usually stained with the color of the bricks by the time we eat lunch. We don't have any big signs or fancy gates at our entrance. It's just the yard where the bricks are drying in the Katni sun. It can be a slow process sometimes, waiting for things to set just right. We have a few guys from the village who help us out every day. We’ve all known each other for a long time, so it's a comfortable place to be. There is no corporate ladder here, just the work sitting right in front of us. We talk about the crops or the local weather while we stack the rows. The trucks come down the dirt paths to pick up the finished product and head out. Sometimes they get stuck if the mud is too bad after a rain. We just grab a shovel and help them out. That’s just how it is in Kathura. We aren't looking for anything flashy, just keeping the kiln going.
