Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas

This Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas is located in Maharajpet, part of Hangal in the Haveri district. Being a bit out of the way compared to city schools actually suits the students quite well. Since it's a residential setup, we need all the space we have here. Staff and kids pretty much live on-site during the term. This makes us feel more like a small village than just a regular school. We spend our time managing the dorms, the kitchen, and the classrooms. It’s a big responsibility, and there’s always something that needs attention. Maybe a light bulb needs changing in the hallway or the garden needs weeding. We don't have a lot of fluff here. It’s all about the daily routine of classes and meals. Haveri is a quiet region, and Maharajpet is even quieter, so there aren’t many distractions. We focus on the work at hand. The students come from all over the area, and they bring a lot of energy to the place. We try to keep things grounded and sensible. We don’t really go in for fancy slogans or anything like that. We just make sure there’s enough food for everyone and that the teachers have their chalk and books. It’s a simple life, focused on getting through the syllabus and making sure the kids are looked after properly until they go home for the holidays. It is just a practical way to live and learn.
