Govt Primary School

This Govt Primary School is tucked away in Mallekoppalu, over in the Hassan district. It is a government-run place, so we work with the supplies and budget we are given. The building is solid enough but it has definitely seen better days. We get most of our students from the farming families who live in the surrounding area. A lot of them walk quite a distance to get here every morning. We focus on the early years, mainly trying to make sure the kids can read, write, and do their sums properly. The classrooms are very simple with just the basic benches and a blackboard at the front. It gets very quiet when they are all busy working on their notebooks. We have a small playground area, though it is mostly just dirt and some patches of grass here and there. During the monsoon season, it gets a bit muddy outside, but the kids never seem to mind it much. We serve the mid-day meals every day, which is a big operation for our small kitchen staff. They stay busy from early morning getting everything ready. We try to keep things as organized as we can, but with young children, there is always a bit of chaos. People in the village just know us as the local school. We don't have any big signs or advertisements. We just focus on getting the work done.
