Travel In Himalayas

Our office, Travel In Himalayas, is located right near Dudadhari Chowk in the Bhopatwala area. It’s a very busy intersection, so there is always noise from the traffic and people walking by outside our door. We spend our days talking to people who want to visit the mountains or go on a pilgrimage to the temples nearby. Most of the time, we are on the phone with drivers or checking if a small guesthouse up the road has an empty room for the night. We have a few maps pinned to the wall that are a bit old now, but they still show the main routes and rivers well enough for us. People drop in with a lot of questions about road conditions or if the weather is okay up in the higher reaches of the hills. We try to give them honest answers based on what we heard from the last group that just came back. Sometimes we make mistakes with a spelling on a permit, and we have to run around to the government offices to fix it before the group leaves. It’s a small team here, just a couple of us sharing the desks and one computer that works most of the time. We drink a lot of chai while waiting for the internet to load the booking pages. It’s not a fancy travel lounge with air conditioning, just a practical spot where we get the paperwork done so people can go see the mountains.
