Our shop is number 4 in the Gyan Mandir Complex on Daksh Road. If you know the Daksh Mandir in Kankhal, we’re right near there. Haridwar is always busy with people visiting the temples, so the road outside is never still. Inside the shop, the air usually smells like cut stems and wet earth. We have buckets of flowers everywhere, so you have to watch your step so you don’t trip over a rose bundle or a puddle of water. It’s a small space, and during the wedding season, it gets absolutely packed with marigolds and jasmine. We don’t have a fancy office setup; it’s mostly just us sitting on stools or the floor, stringing garlands together. The walls have some faded photos of decorations we’ve done in the past. We use an old wooden table for the paperwork and keeping track of orders. Sometimes the monkeys from the temple area come near the shop, so we have to keep an eye out. It’s a humble place, and we like it that way. We’ve been in Kankhal for years, and most of our neighbors are like family. We work long hours when there’s a big event, often staying up late under the bright shop lights. It’s practical work that leaves your hands smelling like flowers and your feet tired by the end of the day. We keep a stash of extra ribbons and tape in an old metal drawer that always sticks.
