If you walk up Badrinath Road near Ayur Pak, you’ll find where we are located in Rishikesh. It’s not a quiet place because of the traffic going up toward the mountains, but once you step inside, the stone floors feel a bit cooler. We have rooms for people to stay in while they are here to learn. The mats are lined up in the main hall, and there’s usually a bit of incense burning somewhere, though it’s mostly just the smell of tea from the kitchen. We don’t have air conditioning, so we rely on the ceiling fans and the mountain air when it decides to blow. People come here from all over, some staying for a week and others for much longer. We don't have a big fancy reception desk or a glossy brochure. Usually, someone is just sitting near the entrance to help you find your way. The stairs are a bit narrow and you have to be careful when carrying your bags up. We have a schedule written on a board near the door so everyone knows when to show up. It’s a simple life here, mostly waking up early and doing the postures and breathing. Sometimes we walk down to the river when the day is done. It’s just a place to practice without a lot of fuss or expensive things. We try to keep the water filters filled and the floors swept every single morning.
