Anant Yoga School Rishikesh

Anant Yoga School Rishikesh is located inside the Hotel Brijwashi Palace, which is right near Parmath Niketan. Being here in Rishikesh means we are very close to the river Ganga. You can hear the ceremonies and the sound of the water if you listen closely during the quiet hours. We set up our mats in a hall inside the hotel every day. It is a simple space, nothing like those modern gyms you see in the big cities. We have some cushions and a few wooden blocks tucked away in a cupboard in the corner. The hotel staff knows us well by now since we have been here for a while. We usually start our sessions very early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool and fresh. Sometimes the monkeys come near the windows, so we have to make sure everything is shut tight. The floor is made of stone and it stays relatively cool even when it is hot outside. We spend our time between classes just sitting and chatting or walking down to the ghats for a bit of air. It isn't a huge operation, just a couple of us who have been practicing yoga for many years. People come and go, staying for a week or a month at a time. We do not have a big reception desk, just a small table where we keep the register and some water bottles.
