We've been working here in Kainchiwala for a while now. Getting the rice right takes time and everybody around Kutubpur knows how the weather affects things. Our group started because we wanted to handle the Basmati ourselves instead of just letting it go to whoever. It's a lot of physical work, especially during harvest. We deal with the seeds, the planting, and making sure the quality is okay before it leaves the gate. Most days start early and end late, depending on what needs doing in the fields or the shed. We aren't a huge operation with shiny offices, just some local folks trying to keep the tradition going and make sure the grain is what people expect from this area. Sometimes the machinery acts up or the rain comes at the wrong time, but that is just part of life here. We handle the sorting and the bagging right on site. It isn't always pretty, but it's real work. We grew up around these fields, so we know the soil pretty well. If you come by the place, you'll see we are usually busy with something or other. It's just about getting the rice from the land to the bags without too much fuss. We focus on the daily tasks and hope the crop turns out good every year. We are just a small team of people trying to make a living and do right by the land.
