Md Shah Road is always crowded, and being in Paltan Bazar means there is never a quiet moment outside. We are right in the middle of all that noise and energy in Guwahati. People come here because we are close to the railway station, so there are always suitcases rolling across the floor. We’ve had this place for years. The rooms have beds and TVs, and we make sure the bathrooms are scrubbed. It’s not a quiet retreat in the woods, it’s a city hotel. You can hear the rickshaws and the vendors calling out from the street below if you open the window. Some days are busier than others, especially when the trains are delayed. We have a few staff members who have been with us since the start. They know which taps leak and which rooms get the best light in the afternoon. We don’t have a big fancy menu, but there’s food if you’re hungry. Mostly, it’s just rice, dal, and local stuff. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just open the doors every morning and make sure people have a key to their room. It gets dusty because of the road work nearby, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the floors. It’s a busy life here in 781008, but we like being part of the neighborhood and seeing the travelers come and go.
