Deats Cafe is located at 26, right across the way from Shanthi Niketan. We are in the Old Astc Hudco area, which is a place that many people have lived in for a long time. Our spot is pretty easy to find once you get near Shanthi Niketan, as that is a landmark everyone knows. The cafe itself is not a large or flashy place. We have a simple setup with our tables and the equipment we need to run things. Every day follows a similar pattern. We come in, get everything cleaned up, and prepare for the day ahead. It is a lot of work to keep a place like this going, but we don't mind the effort. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the floor has a few scuffs here and there, but it feels lived-in and real. We don't want to be one of those overly polished shops where you feel like you can't touch anything. We just want a place that feels like it belongs in the neighborhood. The street outside can be quite lively, especially when the weather is nice. We see a lot of the same people walking by every day, and we’ve gotten to know the local rhythms. We just stay focused on what we are doing inside our four walls. When the evening comes, we pack everything up, turn off the lights, and get ready to do it all over again the next morning. It’s a good, honest way to spend our time.
