Madhushala

AT Road is one of those places in Guwahati where the traffic never really stops. Madhushala is tucked inside the Rajmahal Hotel, so it is a bit of a getaway from all that honking and smoke outside. We get a lot of people who are just tired from a long day of work or business meetings. It’s not a place where you’ll find fancy decorations or people in suits all the time. It is mostly just locals and hotel guests having a drink and some snacks. The lighting is low, and the chairs are comfortable enough to sit for an hour or two. We have a few guys working here who have seen the city change over the decades. They know exactly how most of the regulars like their drinks. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded on weekends, but usually, it’s a steady flow of people. We keep the music at a level where you can actually talk. It’s important to have a place where you don’t have to shout. Some people come in alone just to read the paper and have a quiet moment. We don't mind that. The kitchen sends out small plates that go well with what’s in the glass. It’s practical, straightforward, and we don’t try to be anything we aren’t. It’s just a bar on a busy road where you can find some peace after a long day of dealing with the city life.
