Assam Golden Tea

Our shop is located in Ward No.16, right in the Vijay Siya Mohalla part of Nagar. It is very close to the Holi Gate, which is where everyone gathers during festivals. Assam Golden Tea is a small operation, really. We have bags of tea stacked up and the air always has that dry, earthy smell to it. People walk by on their way to the gate and sometimes they stick their heads in to say hello. It gets very busy around here when there is a market day or a holiday. The street is narrow so you have to be careful when walking. We have a couple of old wooden chairs where we sit when the work is slow. The lighting inside is not the brightest, but we know where everything is kept. Nagar is a place where everyone knows everyone’s business. We have been in this mohalla for a long time. The walls are a bit stained from the dust outside, but it feels comfortable to us. We don't use any fancy machinery to pack the tea. It is mostly done by hand. The sun comes through the front door in the afternoon and lights up all the dust motes in the air. We just keep our head down and take care of the folks who come in. It is a simple life in Ward No.16 and we like it that way. We don't need much more than that. Most days we just drink a cup of tea ourselves and wait for the evening rush to start.
