Suksham Gyan Kala Vikas Council

Suksham Gyan Kala Vikas Council is based out of a house in New Palam Vihar. Specifically, it's House Number 3 P in 1 Block, right near Phase-1 and the Dwarka Expressway. You can hear the construction sounds from the expressway sometimes. We’ve been here for a bit now, focusing on local arts and development work. The office is basically a couple of rooms with some tables and chairs. We have posters on the walls and lots of folders. People from the area stop by to talk about different projects. We spend a lot of time on the phone or writing letters. It's not a fancy operation. We deal with the daily chores of running a council, like keeping track of members and organizing small events. The floors are tiled and we have a ceiling fan that clicks a bit. We handle everything from here. It gets dusty because of the road work nearby, so we’re always wiping down the desks. We share the work between a few of us. We aren't trying to be some big international group; we just stay focused on what’s happening right here in the neighborhood. We drink tea from the shop around the corner and work through our list of things to do. Sometimes we stay late to finish the accounts or plan the next month. It’s just honest, hard work every day in a regular house. We keep a plastic water jug near the entrance for anyone who stops by.
