Our base is in Village Patuka, which is part of the Sohna division in Gurugram, near Mewat. Ash Mohd is the one who helps manage the space there. We are a bunch of local farmers who realized that working alone wasn't getting us very far. The area around Sohna is changing fast with all the new buildings, but we are still out here in the dirt. We grew up here and we know this land. Shasola is our way of keeping the farming community together. It’s a lot of manual labor and long hours in the sun. We don't have any polished marketing or big slogans. We just have our crops and our word. Most days you’ll find us out in Patuka checking on the irrigation or talking to the other members about what seeds worked best last year. It’s a very grounded way of living. We try to help the younger guys learn the ropes so the tradition doesn't die out. Mewat has its challenges, but we are a tough bunch. The company is just a way to make sure we don't get overlooked. We handle everything from the planting to the final sale, as much as we can. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s real work that needs doing. We are just simple people trying to make a go of it.
