Indian Paintings is located at 22 Sikanderpur Village, inside the Jagmal Complex. Living and working in the village area has its own rhythm, and we have been part of this community for years. The space is filled with the smell of oils, pigments, and wooden frames. It is not a gallery with white walls and bright lights; it is more of a working shop where things actually get made. We have stacks of canvases leaning against the walls and brushes soaking in jars all over the place. The Jagmal Complex is a bit of a maze if you have never been here before, but once you find us, it is usually pretty quiet compared to the main road. We spend our days working on different pieces, sometimes getting paint on our clothes and the floor. It is a messy job, but we enjoy the process of seeing something come together from nothing. People from the village often stop by just to see what we are working on today. We don't have a big fancy sign, just our work and the word of mouth from people who know we are here. The light in the morning is the best for seeing the colors correctly, so we try to get most of the detailed work done before the sun gets too high. It is a simple life of making things and staying busy in our little corner of Sikanderpur.
