If you come down to DLF City Phase II near Nathupura Mandi, you’ll find us easily. Being islam kabari means our days are mostly spent around piles of old stuff that people don't want anymore. The mandi area is always loud and full of people buying vegetables, so there is constant noise. We have been at this spot for a while now. It’s not a clean job, but it is what we do. We take in old newspapers, rusted iron pipes, plastic bottles, and whatever else people bring in their trucks or carts. Sometimes we go out to collect things if the load is big enough. The space is usually quite messy because things come in faster than we can sort them out. We don't have a big office or anything, just a small corner where we sit and keep the records of what came in and what went out. The dust from the road settles on everything, and on hot days, it gets really tough to work outside. People from the nearby colonies in DLF often stop by to drop off their household junk. It’s a simple cycle of buying and selling scrap. We don’t try to make it sound like anything more than it is. It's just a yard full of things people finished using, located right there in the Nathupura Mandi area. We keep busy from sunrise to sunset. There is always something new in the junk pile every single morning.
