You can find us at 132 Dundahera, right opposite Plot No 5. It is a straightforward kind of place where we do embroidery work all through the week. The machines make a rhythmic tapping sound that you get used to after about ten minutes of being inside. We have big rolls of fabric leaning against the walls and spools of colored thread everywhere. The floor is never really clean because of all the little snips of thread that fall while we're working. It’s a busy area of Gurgaon, and there’s always someone moving something on the street outside. We don't have a reception desk or anything like that; you just walk in and we're right there at the tables or the machines. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded when a big order comes in and we have to find space to lay everything out. We usually have the radio on in the background, playing whatever station has the most music. The lighting has to be good so we don't miss any stitches, so we have these long tube lights hanging from the ceiling. We’ve been here in Dundahera for a good while now and know the rhythms of the street. If the power goes, we just take a break and wait it out, maybe grab a snack from the shop down the road. It’s a simple operation, just us and the machines doing the work day in and day out. That is just how our days go.
