D N Farm & Nursery

You can find us out at Acharya Puri in Gwalpahari, right near the Ansal Valley View Estate. D N Farm & Nursery is mostly just a lot of dirt, green leaves, and the sound of water hoses. We spend our days outside, no matter if it’s boiling hot or a bit chilly in the morning. Being near the estate means we get people coming by looking for something to put on their balconies or in their front yards. We keep a variety of plants, some that grow tall and others that just sit in small pots. My hands are almost always covered in soil, and my boots are never clean. That’s just part of the work when you’re dealing with roots and compost. We don't have a big fancy office; we usually just sit on some plastic chairs under the shade of a big tree when we need a break. We have to watch the weather closely because a heavy rain can wash away the younger saplings if we aren't careful. It’s a quiet life compared to the city, with more birds around than cars. Sometimes we have to move heavy bags of fertilizer around, which is hard on the back, but the plants need it. We just grow what we can and help people pick out something that won't die the minute they get it home. It’s simple work but it keeps us busy from sunrise until it gets too dark to see the leaves.
