R. K. Foundry & Engg. Works

R. K. Foundry & Engg. Works is situated on G.T. Road in Batala. If you know Batala, you know G.T. Road is the main artery. We’ve been doing foundry and engineering work here for a long time. It’s a hot and heavy job. The furnaces are going most of the day, so it stays warm even in the winter. We deal with molten metal and big casts. It’s not the kind of place you’d want to wear a nice suit to. We all wear our work boots and heavy clothes. The air smells like iron and smoke. It’s an old-school way of working, but it works for us. We don't have any big corporate policies or anything like that. We just know how to handle the metal and the molds. Batala is famous for this kind of work, so we fit right in with the rest of the foundries. Our shop is a bit cluttered with patterns and finished pieces waiting to be picked up. We don't use much technology besides the machines we need for the casting. It’s a lot of physical labor and sweating. Some of the guys have been here since they were young men. We just keep the foundry running as best as we can. It’s a steady life on G.T. Road. We just do the engineering work and the casting as the orders come in. It’s what we know best and we keep at it.
