About B. L. Engineering Works – Engineering in Gurdaspur
If you head down towards the Raja Sansi Air Force area, you’ll find us right by the Officers Mess on Airport Road. B. L. Engineering Works has been operating out of this spot for a long time. It’s a busy road with all the airport traffic, and our shop fits right in with the noise. We mostly do metal repairs and small fabrication jobs. There’s always the smell of grease and burnt metal in the air. We have a few old lathes and welding machines that have seen better days, but they still work just fine for what we need. I usually spend my mornings looking over the parts people bring in to be fixed. Sometimes it’s a broken gate, other times it’s a piece of a tractor engine. We don’t have a receptionist, so you usually just walk in and find one of us under a machine or holding a torch. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, with scraps of iron lying around and oil stains on the floor. My father used to run the shop before me, and he taught me that a good weld is better than a shiny coat of paint. We don’t bother with advertisements or fancy slogans. Word of mouth keeps us busy enough. People from the nearby villages and the air force staff often drop by when something breaks. We just do the work and try to get it back to them quickly.
