You can find us right on G.T. Road in Batala. If you know Batala, you know it’s the hub for machinery, so we fit right in. We’ve been making different kinds of machines here for a long time. The shop is right on the main road, which makes it easy for trucks to pull in and out, though the traffic on G.T. Road can be a nightmare sometimes. We spend most of our days in the workshop with the smell of iron and oil everywhere. It’s a family-run thing mostly, with everyone chipping in where they can. We don't use any high-tech automation; it’s mostly manual work done by hand and older equipment. That’s how we’ve always done it and it works for the types of machines we build. The walls of the shop are covered in old calendars and notes written in chalk. It’s not the cleanest place, but we know where everything is. We make stuff that is meant to last a long time without needing much maintenance. People come from all over Punjab to pick up machines from us because they know we’ve been here on G.T. Road forever. We take lunch together at the back of the shop when the noise gets to be too much. It’s a simple operation, and we like keeping it that way without adding too many fancy layers to the business. We usually close early on Saturdays to spend some time at home before the next week starts again.
