The shop sits right in the middle of the Main Bazar in Jasdan, which means there is never a quiet moment outside the door. You can hear the vegetable sellers shouting and the motorbikes revving all morning long. Being in this part of Rajkot, you get used to the dust and the constant movement of the market. Our place is small and the walls have seen a lot of years. We have a couple of old chairs that have been sat in by almost everyone in town at some point or another. When the sun is high, the shop stays a bit cooler than the street, which makes it a good place for people to just sit and talk for a while even if they aren't next in line. We don't have any big signs or fancy lights, just the usual tools and a radio that plays low in the background. Most of our regulars are farmers or shopkeepers from the nearby stalls who come in when the market slows down a little in the late afternoon. It is a basic setup where the floor gets messy fast and the mirrors always have a bit of a smudge on them. We like being part of the bazar life because something is always happening right outside. It is just a local Jasdan business where we know whose son is getting married and who is moving away.
