The Taj Saloon

The Taj Saloon is right on the main road in New Gandhi Nagar, only a few steps away from the Shiv Mandir. If you are looking for Shop No 12, that is where we are. It is a typical barber shop where guys from around Ghaziabad come for a quick haircut or a shave. We have been here for many years and the neighborhood has changed quite a bit but we are still in the same spot. The chairs are old but they are comfortable enough for a twenty minute sit. We keep the fans running high because it gets very hot in the afternoons. Sometimes the radio is playing old songs while we work on someone's hair. It is a place where neighbors catch up on local news while they wait their turn on the bench. We do beard trims and head massages too, nothing too complicated or fancy. Usually the morning time is quiet but by evening the benches are full of people. We do not take appointments or anything, you just show up and wait for your turn. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast so we are always sweeping it up. It is a simple life here in Ghaziabad. We know the kids who grew up coming here and now they bring their own sons. We just focus on doing a decent job with the scissors and the razor. No big signs or flashing lights, just a small shop near the temple where you can get a clean cut for a fair price.
