Som Glass & Aluminium

The shop at B135 in Jaipuriya Sunrize Green is where we spend most of our waking hours. Being right behind Jaipuriya Mall in Indirapuram means there is always something going on nearby, but our little corner stays focused on the glass and metal. Som Glass & Aluminium isn't a massive showroom with bright lights and fancy displays. It’s mostly full of long aluminum sections and big sheets of glass leaning against the walls. You have to be careful where you step because there’s usually a few small shards or metal filings on the floor. Cutting glass is a quiet job that takes a steady hand, and we’ve had our share of nicks and scrapes over the years. We spend a lot of time measuring things twice because once you cut, there is no going back. The back of the shop gets a bit stuffy in the summer, but we keep the doors open to catch whatever breeze comes through the alley. We don't do much talking when a big project is on the table; we just put our heads down and get to the cutting and fitting. It is a messy business, and the dust from the aluminum saws gets everywhere, including our tea mugs if we aren't careful. We just provide what people need for their homes or shops without making a big fuss about it. It’s a simple living and it keeps us out of trouble.
