I spend most of my days here at Jawahar Singh Market in Darya Ganj. It’s a busy spot, especially on weekends when everyone comes looking for books or clothes. My space is at number 2241 in stall 27. It isn't very large, but it works for what I do. Most mornings I start by cleaning the dust off the front counter because the road outside gets quite messy with all the rickshaws and carts passing by. The neighbors are mostly good people, we’ve known each other for years now. Sometimes we share tea from the stall around the corner when things are slow. You can find me here from ten in the morning until late evening. The building itself is old, like most things in this part of Delhi. It has that specific smell of old paper and city dust. I’ve been sitting in this same spot for a long time. People often get lost trying to find the exact shop numbers because the layout is a bit confusing, but once you find the main entrance to Jawahar Singh Market, it gets easier. I don’t have any fancy signs or big lights. It’s just a simple place where I handle my daily work. The fan overhead makes a bit of noise, but I’ve gotten used to it over the years. Some days are busier than others, especially when the weather is nice and people feel like walking around the markets more.
