Aashiyana Handlooms

Down in the basement of R K Tower in Sector 4, you will find Aashiyana Handlooms. We are in Shop No A 6. It’s a bit cooler down here than it is on the street level, which is nice during the summer months in Vaishali. We have stacks of fabric and handloom items everywhere. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes because we try to keep a lot of variety on the shelves. The lighting in the basement could be better, but we have some extra lamps so people can see the colors of the cloth. We spend a lot of time folding and unfolding things. People come in and want to feel the texture of the material before they decide on anything. It’s a hands-on kind of place. We don’t have a big window display since we’re below ground, so we mostly rely on people knowing where we are. The stairs coming down are a bit steep, so you have to watch your step. Aashiyana Handlooms has been in this spot for a while. We know the other shop owners in the tower pretty well. It’s a small community down here. We just keep things simple and focus on the stock we have. It’s a lot of work keeping everything organized, but it’s what we do. Sometimes we spend the whole afternoon just rearranging the piles of cloth so the newer stuff is easier to reach. It's a quiet life in the basement, but we like the pace.
