Onkar Singh

My name is Onkar Singh and I spend most of my time at chamber 942 in the Ghaziabad Civil Court. It’s a crowded place, full of people looking for answers and lawyers running to and from hearings. My space isn't very large, just enough for a few chairs and my stacks of books. It can get pretty loud in the hallways during the middle of the day, but inside 942, things are a bit more focused. I’ve been at this for a while now. I know the layout of these courts like the back of my hand. There’s no point in having a flashy office when the real work happens in the details of the documents. I usually have tea brought in while I'm looking over things in the afternoon. It’s a very practical environment. I don't have any interest in sounding like a big corporate firm. I'm just an individual professional doing what I've been trained to do. The people who come to see me are usually looking for someone who will listen and give them a straight answer. Ghaziabad is a tough place sometimes, but the court community is tight-knit in its own way. Even when it’s raining and the courtyard gets muddy, we all still show up. It’s just how it is here. I’m usually there from morning until the gates close up for the evening, trying to stay on top of all the files.
