Om Brick Field

Om Brick Field is located right behind the Jonary School in Faridhnagar, near the main road. Being behind a school means we hear the kids playing and the bells ringing all day long. It’s actually a nice sound to work to, better than just hearing the traffic from the main road. Our number is 90, but the gate is easy to spot once you turn off the highway. I started this field after working for someone else for fifteen years. I wanted something of my own, even if it was just a dusty plot of land. We make bricks the traditional way mostly, so there is a lot of mud and water involved. It’s messy, especially when it rains and the whole field turns into a swamp. We just wear our old boots and keep at it. I don’t use any fancy computer programs to run the place. I have a notebook where I write down who bought what. It works fine for us. Most of the people who buy from us are neighbors or small contractors from around Faridhnagar. We don't really have a boss in a suit here. Everyone just rolls up their sleeves and gets to work. It’s a plain life, but there is something satisfying about seeing a fresh stack of bricks ready to go. We’re just regular people trying to do a decent job every day.
