Kalka Brick Field

Our field is located out in Vill- Milk Chakarpur on the Bhadauli Road. It is a bit of a drive from the main part of Murad Nagar, but the land here is good for making bricks. It’s mostly open fields around us, so the wind can really pick up and blow the dirt around while we are working. We spend our days out in the sun, making sure the clay is mixed right and the bricks are set out properly to dry. It is a slow process and you can’t really rush it if you want them to turn out right. If the weather turns bad, we are in trouble because everything is out in the open. That is just part of the risk you take with a brick field like this. We have a few regulars who come by with their tractors to pick up loads for building projects in the nearby villages. It’s hard work and your hands stay stained with the earth, but we’ve been doing this for a long time. There is no big office here, just a couple of sheds where we keep the tools and take our lunch. We usually sit under the big tree near the entrance to get some shade when the sun is directly overhead. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for the sound of the tractors and the workers talking. Murad Nagar has grown a lot, but out here on Bhadauli Road, things still move at a bit of a slower pace.
