Natraj Sangeet Vidhyalaya

Our school is over in Ramesh Nagar, in the Double Story B-1 section. It’s a modest little place, mostly just a couple of rooms where we teach music. Natraj Sangeet Vidhyalaya has been around for a while now. We don't have any of those modern glass walls or shiny signs. The front door sticks a bit when it's humid outside, so you have to give it a good push. Inside, we have some harmoniums, some tablas, and a few old chairs for the parents to sit on. We aren't trying to be a big institution. It's just a place where people can come and learn the old songs and instruments. Most of our students are from the neighborhood. They walk over after their school day is finished. We spend a lot of time sitting on the floor and practicing scales. It can be repetitive, but that is the only way to learn music properly. We don't have a website or any social media pages. If someone wants to join, they usually just hear about us from a neighbor and show up on a Monday. It’s a quiet life, mostly. We just enjoy the sound of the music and the company of the people who come through our doors. It’s not a fancy business, just a local spot where we keep the traditions going as best as we can. We're just regular people who love music.
