Mohammad Shahid’s place is at Dallupura A 33, right where the road curves a little. It’s an older building, and the stairs are a bit narrow, so you have to be careful coming up. We spend most of our time in the front room where there’s a bit more air. There’s a ceiling fan that makes a clicking noise on the high setting, but we don't even notice it anymore. The neighborhood has changed quite a bit since we first started here, with more shops opening up on the ground floors. We keep a pretty regular schedule, usually getting in by nine and leaving once the streetlights come on. There’s always mail piled up near the door because the postman just slides it under. We don't have any fancy software to track things; it’s all kept in a few thick ledgers that sit on the shelf. The pens always seem to go missing right when you need one. It’s not a high-tech operation, but it works for what we need to do. Sometimes we have to move the furniture around to make space for new supplies. The neighbors are mostly good people, and we share a laugh over the fence now and then. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. It’s just a daily routine of handling tasks and making sure nothing gets lost in the shuffle. It's a quiet life but we like it that way.
