Kalpana Garments

Down at 321 Maliwara Chowk in Ghaziabad, you’ll find our little shop tucked away. This area is always buzzing with people, and the noise from the market outside is something we’ve stopped noticing after all this time. We deal in garments of all sorts, mostly focusing on what people in the neighborhood need for their daily lives. The shop is full of shelves reaching up to the ceiling, and we often have to use a rickety ladder to get things down for customers. It’s a bit cramped, especially when we have a few people inside at once, but it makes the place feel lively. We don’t really do anything high-tech; we just write things down in our ledger and keep track of what’s selling. The floors are a bit worn out from all the walking, and the paint on the walls has seen better days, but the clothes are what matters. We spend a lot of time folding and re-folding shirts and trousers after someone has gone through them. It’s a basic business, really. We open up in the morning, sweep the front, and wait for the first person to walk in. Dealing with the wholesalers and the local crowd keeps us on our toes. There’s no big secret to how we run things at Kalpana Garments, just staying open and being part of the chowk’s daily life.
