Mahendra Kumar Mudgal

I spend most of my days at the Rajnagar Civil Court Compound, specifically at 767A. If you’ve ever been to the court compound, you know it’s a place of constant movement. There are always people rushing around with bundles of papers and lawyers talking in small groups. My space here is small, but it’s right where the action is. I have been Mahendra Kumar Mudgal for a long time, and this spot has been my base for many years. The walls are thin, so you can often hear the murmur of the court proceedings nearby. I keep a small desk lamp on even during the day because the corners of the office get a bit dark and dusty. There is a stack of files in the corner that I really need to archive one of these days, but there always seems to be something more urgent to do. Lunch is usually something quick from one of the stalls nearby, eaten while I read through the latest notices. It’s not the most glamorous place to work, but it’s honest and it’s where I need to be to do my job. I meet all sorts of people here, each with their own story and their own legal issues. I listen more than I talk most of the time. It’s a busy environment, but I’ve found a way to make it my own over the years. Sometimes I stay late just to enjoy the silence.
