Kanika Fashion

Kanika Fashion is based out of House No. 186 on Street 4 in Sector 9, Vijay Nagar Colony. Since we are in a residential colony, it feels very different from a big industrial park. It’s a bit more personal here. We use a few rooms in the house for the sewing and the storage of the clothes. The street is usually quiet except for when the school kids are coming home or a vendor is passing by. We have a few local ladies who come in to help with the handwork and the finishing touches. It’s the kind of place where you can hear the birds outside while you’re working on a garment. We don't have a big showroom; people usually just come to the door if they need something. The main room is full of hangers and different colored threads. We try to keep the place tidy, but when we have a big deadline, there are pins and fabric pieces everywhere. The power cuts in Vijay Nagar can be a bit of a pain, so we sometimes have to work late into the evening when the light is better. It's a small family-style operation where everyone knows each other’s business. We’ve been at this address for quite a while now and the locals all know us as the fashion house on Street 4. It’s just a simple, honest way to make a living in our own neighborhood.
