Jogenra Singh

Allipur is a quiet corner of Hapur Village and that is where Jogenra Singh has been for a long time. It’s just a local spot. We don't have fancy signs or a big glass front. It is mostly just the workshop and a small area to sit. My family has lived in this village for generations, so everyone knows where to find us. If you walk down the main dirt path, you’ll see the old gate. Sometimes the dogs are sleeping out front, so you have to watch your step. We do our daily work here without much fuss. It gets quite dusty during the dry months, and we spend a lot of time just cleaning the tools. We don't use any high-tech systems. We just have a big notebook where we write everything down. If someone needs something, they just come by and talk. It’s not a corporate thing at all. It is just me and a couple of guys from the neighborhood. We drink tea in the mornings and then start on whatever needs doing. The rain can be a problem sometimes because the roof leaks a little in the corner, but we just move the stuff out of the way. We’ve been at this Hapur Village address for as long as I can remember. We don’t try to be anything we aren't. It’s just a simple place for simple work. We stay busy enough to keep going.
