Devendra Kumar

My shop is located right in the middle of Kashmere Gate, specifically at Shop No 516 10 in Gali Imli Wali. If you know Ganda Nala Bazar, you know how busy it gets around here. Devendra Kumar is the name on the door, though the sign is a bit old now. It’s a small space, like most of the shops in this part of Delhi. We are packed in tight with our neighbors, and there is always the sound of people talking and rickshaws moving through the narrow lanes. Gali Imli Wali is one of those places where you can find almost anything if you look hard enough. My shop isn't very big, and I have to stack things high to make everything fit. It can be a bit dusty because of the bazar traffic, but that is just part of being in Kashmere Gate. I spend most of my day sitting behind the counter, dealing with whoever walks in. It is a lot of regular faces from the neighborhood and some new people who got lost looking for something else. I’ve been here at Shop 516 for a long time, and I’ve seen the bazar change quite a bit over the years. Even though it is crowded and loud, I like the energy of the place. It feels like a real community where everyone is just trying to make a living. I keep the shop open late because that’s when the bazar is most alive and people are out looking for deals.
