If you go to Karol Bagh in Delhi, specifically the Naiwala area, you’ll find us at 2161 61. It’s a very crowded part of the city, full of shops and people looking for spare parts or getting their bikes fixed at all hours. Chand Pal Singh is the name we go by here. It’s not a big company with a board of directors; it’s more of a personal operation where everyone knows each other. The shop is small and usually smells like oil or dust from the street, which is just part of the job. We’ve got tools and bits of equipment scattered around because we are always in the middle of some task. There isn't much space to sit down, so most of the time we are on our feet or leaning over a workbench. Karol Bagh is always loud with the sound of engines and people talking, so we have to shout sometimes just to be heard. We don't have a website or any of that fancy social media stuff. People know where we are because we’ve been at this spot for many years now. If someone needs something done, they just come by and wait their turn on the bench outside. We try to be honest about how long things will take, but sometimes a job is harder than it looks at first glance. We just do the work and hope the customers are satisfied enough to come back. It’s a tough way to make a living, but we keep at it.
