Chamber No 23

Chamber No 23 is where I stay during the work week. It is located at the Rajnagar Tahseel and it is a very small room, mostly just enough space for a desk and a couple of visitors to sit down. The Tahseel is a busy place with people always running around with papers in their hands. There is a lot of shouting in the hallways and the sound of stamps being pressed onto documents all day. My chamber is a bit dark because the window is small and looks out onto a brick wall. I have been here for a long time and I have seen all sorts of people come through that door. Some are in a big hurry and some just want to sit and talk for a bit while I look over their files. The walls are covered in shelves that are sagging under the weight of old legal books and records that have been there for years. It is not a polished office with air conditioning and soft carpet. It is just a basic room in a government building where the daily work gets done. Sometimes the ceiling fan makes a clicking sound that drives me crazy but I eventually stop hearing it. I just handle the paperwork and try to help people navigate the system as best as I can. It is a steady routine in Rajnagar and I know everyone around here.
