Brijesh Sharma

Up here on the fourth floor at number 401 on Shivaji Marg, things stay pretty busy. My name is Brijesh Sharma and this is where I spend most of my waking hours. The view isn't much, just the tops of other buildings and the constant stream of cars down on the street. Shivaji Marg is always loud, but once you close the door, it’s quiet enough to actually think. I started out here a few years back and just stayed. The elevator works most of the time, which is good because four flights of stairs is a lot in the middle of summer. I keep a few chairs for when people drop by, but it’s mostly just desks and papers everywhere. It’s not the kind of place that looks like a magazine cover, but it’s real. I like that I can walk down the street and find whatever I need, from a quick snack to a spare part for the fan. Dealing with the daily logistics of a business in this part of town takes a lot of patience. Sometimes the power goes out or the internet acts up, but we just wait it out and get back to it. It’s a honest living and I’m glad to have a roof over my head in a place like this. There is not much more to say really. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
