Amit Payal

Amit Payal is based in Hapur, specifically in the Raghuveer Ganj area. If you know Hapur, you know that Raghuveer Ganj is one of those old, crowded market spaces where every inch is used for something. The shop or office is tucked between a couple of other businesses, and it can be a bit of a squeeze when we have more than two visitors at a time. The shelves are packed with whatever stock or records we need to keep on hand. It is often quite dusty because of the open storefront, but we do our best to sweep it out every morning. There is a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit, but it does the job of moving the air around. We spend our days dealing with the locals and the various traders who pass through the Ganj. It is a very hands-on environment. There is no air conditioning, so we rely on the breeze and plenty of cold water during the summer. The noise from the street is constant—carts rattling, people shouting prices, and the occasional scooter trying to push through the crowd. We have been part of this market for years. Our way of working is very traditional; we prefer talking to people face-to-face rather than sending emails. It is a humble place, and we do not put on any acts. We are just here doing our business in the heart of Hapur, keeping things moving as they always have. The old clock on the wall has stopped working, but we never bothered to fix it.
