Our spot is in Sector 6, over at B 138. It’s a pretty straightforward place to work. Most mornings start with unlocking the main door and checking what arrived overnight. We handle a lot of electrical and mechanical stuff, which means there is usually some heavy lifting or moving things around on pallets. The warehouse floor is where most of the action happens, while a few of us sit in the small office area to handle the logs and calls. Sector 6 is full of similar units, so you get to know the neighbors after a while. We aren't big on decorations or anything like that; the walls are mostly covered in charts and calendars. It gets noisy when the machines are running or when trucks are backing up to the loading area. The tea guy comes around twice a day, which is usually the highlight when things get stressful. We have a small crew and everyone knows their job, so we don't need much supervision. It’s just about getting the parts out the door and making sure nothing gets lost in the shuffle. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit around for a bit until it comes back on. It’s a practical environment for people who don’t mind getting their hands a bit dirty. Our work isn't for everyone, but we have a good rhythm here that seems to work for us day in and day out.
