You can find our office up on the second floor of B-54 in the Khanpur Extension. We are right near the HDFC Bank, which is where most people tell their drivers to stop. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, and the office is usually full of rolls of fabric and bags of decorations. We spend half our time out at different sites and the other half here trying to figure out the schedules. My crew is always moving, loading trucks with poles and lights or checking the catering equipment. It’s a noisy business, especially when we are prepping for a big weekend. We’ve been working around this area for quite some time now, so we know most of the shortcuts and the local suppliers. The phone rings a lot, mostly people asking about prices or checking if we are free on a certain date. We don’t have a big glossy brochure or anything like that. We just show people photos on our phones of the work we did last week. Sometimes things get hectic, like when a delivery is late or the weather turns bad during an outdoor setup. We just deal with it as it comes. It’s a messy job sometimes, with all the glitter and the heavy lifting, but it keeps us busy. We mostly just focus on getting the tents up and the food ready on time for whoever hired us.
