Sikkim Himalaya Trip

Our little office is situated below the Hobby Centre at Jore Dhara, right around the 5th mile mark in Tadong. It’s a busy spot with cars going by all the time heading up into the mountains. We spend our days planning trips for people who want to see Sikkim. It isn't a large operation. We mostly sit around the desk with maps and talk to drivers on the phone. We know the roads here can be tricky, especially when the monsoon starts, so we spend a lot of time checking on the conditions. We don't have a big flashy sign, just our name on the door. People come in looking for a way to get to the high lakes or the monasteries. We try to give them a clear idea of what to expect without making it sound like a fairy tale. It’s a lot of logistics, like making sure the permits are ready and the hotels actually have the rooms they promised. Sometimes we have to change plans at the last minute because of a landslide or a blocked road. That’s just life in the Himalayas. We grew up here, so we know the shortcuts and the quiet places that the big tour companies might miss. It’s a simple way to earn a living, and we like meeting people from different places who are excited about the hills.
