In Yeallapur, we operate out of a building called Damodhar Krupa on D.T. Road. It’s in the North Kanara district of Karnataka. If you are looking for us, we are right there on the main road, which makes it easy to find but also means there is always a bit of traffic noise. The Jindal name is on the front, but it’s a very local operation. The office has that old-school feel with wooden desks and paper files everywhere. We do a lot of our work manually because that’s just how things have always been done here. Yeallapur is a beautiful area, but it’s also quite remote compared to the big cities, so we have to be a bit more self-reliant. If something breaks, we usually have to figure out how to fix it ourselves. The staff here is small, mostly just local people who have lived in the area their whole lives. We spend our days coordinating supplies and making sure the local projects are staying on track. It’s a steady pace of work, nothing too frantic. We enjoy the fact that we can see the trees and feel the breeze coming through the windows. It’s a far cry from a stuffy office in Bangalore or Mumbai. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing, keeping things simple for everyone involved. It’s a quiet but busy existence out here on D.T. Road and we like it that way.
