Govt Primary School

This is the Govt Primary School in Assabutter. If you head towards Sure Wala in Muktsar, you'll find us easily enough. It’s a small place for the younger kids in the village. Most mornings start with the sound of the bell and children running across the dirt yard. We have a few rooms where we sit and go over the basic subjects. Since it's a primary school, the kids are quite small and full of energy. The walls have some old charts on them that have faded over the years. We do what we can with the supplies we get. Sometimes the rain makes the road to the school a bit muddy, but the children still show up. There isn't much noise around here, just the sound of the wind and the kids reciting their tables. We spend a lot of time outside when the weather is nice. The teachers here are used to the quiet life of the village. We handle the paperwork for the government schemes and make sure the midday meal is ready on time. It’s a simple setup. No big gates or security guards, just a low wall and a gate that stays open. We know every child’s name and which house they come from in the village. It’s just a basic school trying to help the local kids learn to read and write before they move on to the bigger schools later in life.
