About Snehlata Gupta Memorial Degree College – Education in Firozabad
Out here in Rasulabad, the college sits in a part of Kanpur Dehat that’s fairly quiet most of the time. It’s a degree college, so we get older students coming in from the surrounding villages. Some of them travel quite a distance on buses or cycles to get here. The building is a bit older, with some cracks in the plaster here and there, but it holds up well enough for what we need. We spend our days making sure the lecture halls are ready and that the library has enough chairs for everyone. The library is actually one of the busier spots, though it stays mostly silent. During the winters, the sun in the courtyard is where everyone wants to be during the break. We don't have a big staff, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything, whether it is handling the admissions or making sure the gate is locked at night. Sometimes the internet is slow, which makes the office work take longer than it should, but we get by. It’s a very practical sort of place. We don't have a lot of fancy decorations on the walls, just the basic stuff. It feels like a community spot more than anything else. You see the same faces every day, and we all just try to get through the syllabus before the big exams start. It’s just a steady, everyday routine for everyone involved here in Kanpur.
