World Cafe

This place is inside the Lalit Hotel over on Mathura Road. Faridabad can be a pretty industrial and busy place, but this corner is a bit different from the rest of the city. We are at 12/7, and you have to come into the hotel grounds to find where we are located. It’s not like a shop on the street where you just wander in by accident. We have a set routine here. The morning shift starts very early when the sun is just coming up over the main road. We check the machines and make sure everything is clean. It’s a bit quieter than the places in the middle of the crowded city markets. We get travelers who are staying at the hotel or people stopping by on their way into Delhi. The road outside is always busy with big trucks and cars moving fast. Inside, it’s a bit more still and calm. We don't have a lot of posters or loud signs everywhere. We just have the menu and the tables. Sometimes the staff sits together in the quiet hours to have a small meal. We talk about our families or what we’re doing on our days off. We don't use any fancy words to describe what we do here. We just make food and serve it. It’s a job like any other, but we’ve been doing it a long time now. The air conditioning works well, which is good.
