Rakesh Steels

Rakesh Steels is over at B-168 Nehru Ground. If you are familiar with the NIT area, you will know it is a hub for all sorts of trade and commerce. Our shop isn't hard to find if you are looking for steel. We have been sitting in this same spot for years, watching the neighborhood change around us. It is a lot of dusty work, moving heavy metal around and making sure the counts are right. We do not have a fancy website or a marketing department. It is just us and the inventory. Most mornings start early, usually before the sun gets too hot, so we can get a head start on the loading. We see a lot of the same faces every week, guys coming in for a few rods or some sheets of steel for their own small projects. We keep a ledger on the main counter and it has seen better days, covered in smudges and marks from work. The phone rings a lot, usually someone asking for prices or checking if we have something in stock. We do not use much fancy language here. We just talk about the steel and the sizes. It is honest work and it keeps us occupied. The fans in the office struggle in the summer, but we keep the doors open to catch whatever breeze comes through the Nehru Ground. That is just how it is for us every single day.
