Orcan Engineering Products has been at Plot No. 51 for quite a long time now. This part of the N.I.T. Industrial Area is always crowded with trucks and workers. Our place is basically just a big shed with some heavy machinery inside. We make various engineering parts. It's not the cleanest place in the world, but we get the job done. The guys who work here have been with us for years. We know each other's families and how everyone likes their coffee. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just call us or drop by when they need something made. The machines are old but we keep them running. Sometimes a belt breaks and we spend half the day fixing it ourselves. That’s just part of the routine. The office is just a small corner with a fan that makes a lot of noise. We keep all the blueprints in these big dusty drawers. It’s a lot of work handling the inventory. We try to keep things organized, but when big orders come in, everything gets a bit chaotic. We usually have a lunch break together under the tree outside if the weather is okay. It’s just us doing our thing every day. We don’t try to be anything we aren't. If the final product works, we’re happy. That is all that really matters in this line of work.
